and happy May Day to everyone in forehand! I am kinda disappointed that Dutch don't celebrate May Day (because in Finland, vappu ei lopu, not at least for students 😉). But luckily the Netherlands have monarch and the king Willem is born on 27th April so King's Day is the substitutive day for May Day. Exchange students from all over Holland went to see the name of the game in Amsterdam. We definitely had a blast. After staying awake 22 hours (the bus left back to Maastricht in midnight) the next day was quite chill. But here's some pictures about King's Day in Amsterdam. Thanks everybody for a great day! Oh, the colour of the day was orange because it is the royal family's colour. The orange colour has apparently come originally from the royal relative name, Oranje-Nassau. The King's name is Willem van Oranje, and oranje is orange so there's the answer. But it is ok to wear the colours of the Netherlands flag, red-white-blue. That is handy actually if you want to celebrate France or Russia with same clothes (haha).
A week ago was family time when my mom and godmother visited Holland. We went to see the tulip park Keukenhof, stayed one night in Hillegom (and accidentally saw also the tulip fields!) and then I was the tourist guide here in Maastricht. The weather was again amazing, warm and sunny. Pictures tells more than words so here's some colourful flowers and other stuff. Keukenhof and the tulip fields are really Dutch things for tourists and why not. Really pretty to watch. If you're going to Keukenhof from anywhere Holland, you should check the website of Discover Holland. They have an offer that one can travel to Keukenhof by train anywhere from Holland to the nearest stations (Schiphol, Leiden or Heerlen), take a bus to Keukenhof, see the park and go back all just for 35 euros.

Next week is gonna be busy again with school (exam again on Friday) and quite sure that at least Finnish exchange students are gonna celebrate May Day somehow. So just a quick update for how things are going here and the answer is busy but having fun!
I'll be back,
Tuija
